Information we use and why
Public searches do not require an account. Search filters are sent to the service to return matching published records and appear in the page address so searches can be shared. Avoid entering personal or sensitive information in a search. Technical request information is used to operate, maintain and protect the directory. For these core service and security activities, the operator relies on its legitimate interests in providing and protecting the service.
The directory republishes selected information from official or authorised public registers under applicable licences or permissions. See Data Sources for source and licence details.
Analytics
Google Analytics (G-X2J0CNNS4M) is optional and is loaded only after a visitor accepts Analytics. Rejected or undecided Analytics remains blocked. Reported page views omit search terms and listing names from page URLs. Google may process device and usage information under its own terms.
Advertising
The site includes a Google AdSense publisher tag. Google AdSense Privacy & messaging provides separate advertising choices; the operator must enable and publish its European regulations message in the AdSense account. Google may use device storage and process information for advertising according to the choices in that message and the account settings. Google requires a certified CMP for personalised ads to visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland. See Google advertising privacy information.
Cookies and similar storage
- Analytics choice: saved in browser local storage for up to six months so the choice can be respected.
- Clerk session and security cookies support administrator sign-in.
- The admin area may store a sidebar preference cookie for up to seven days.
- Google may use device storage for Analytics or advertising under the choices and settings described above.
Visitors can change the Analytics choice using Cookie settings in the footer. Google’s AdSense message manages advertising choices when enabled.
Server logs and retention
Application request logs contain a request identifier, method, page path and response status. The application logger excludes query strings, IP addresses and cookies. Replit states that published deployment logs are retained for 30 days. Google, Clerk and map providers set their own retention periods.
Maps and other providers
When a map is displayed, the browser requests tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives the visitor’s IP address and browser connection information. The site also requests font files from Google Fonts, which receives browser connection information to deliver them. No geocoding service is used. Clerk provides administrator authentication; Replit hosts the application. Each provider applies its own privacy terms.
International processing
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Their privacy information explains their processing locations and safeguards for international transfers.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives visitors rights to request access, correction, deletion or restriction, object to processing and receive certain data in a portable format. Consent may be withdrawn at any time without affecting prior processing. Visitors may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
